Gari Dill-Marlow

From the pedigree he is solidly Koheilan with dam line tracing to the desert import line through Gazella II to the Count Dzieduszycki mare, Gazella,
acquired in 1845. This line is probably one of the most successful of the Polish racing lines, performance lines and is also known for her daughters who produced excellent sires, in your case Taraszcza, to whom Noble Ghazi descends on the dam line, who was the dam of Negatiw as well as such illustrious horses as Topol, Nitochka, Patriot, Plotina Teplitsa, Topaz and the oh so beautiful Namet! Amazingly Taraszcza had 18 (eighteen!) foals! This is one of
those instances where the importance of the mare line cannot be over-emphasized. The Bedu would say, "Size and shape come from the stallion all else derives from the mare!" Tarascza is known to have transmitted the ability to confer beauty, speed and athletic ability in abundance and apparently
excellent health as well as breeding success! In strain, Gazella and thus Noble Ghazi is a Kuhailan Ajuz.

Noble Ghazi's sire line tracing to the desert import Kuhailan Haifi. These lines suggest a stallion of extraordinary power and strength with a big stride and capable of doing anything the owner or breeder would want in an athlete. Noble Ghazi also traces to Kuhailan Haifi found at least 4 times in his pedigree
thus the following was probably as true of him as it was of Kuhailan Haifi: "During a three days stay at Abu Draatha, I noticed some two years old, already saddled, bay Kuhailat fillies, very equal in type and beautiful indeed. I learn, that they were sired by a bay stallion, belonging to the Ruala Bedouins in the neighborhood of Jauf these one we decided to reach for any price." And later the meeting with the bay stallion, "Finally I hear a neigh, they guide in stallions...they lead in the bay Kuhailan Haifi. My legs buckled under me, it is just the horse I am seeking for. Not large, dry, on splendid legs, without any trace of cow hocks. A long neck, a noble head, although not very small, with distended, thin, and movable nostrils; a splendid high carried tail. I feel, first
time in my life, that during the purchase I am fainting..." Carl Raswan writing of the expedition with Count Sanguzko's Director of the Gumniska Arabian
Stud, Bogdan Zientarski.

By the way, this sire line is the most winning halter sire line at the US Nationals, currently with the following stallions: *Bask, Zarabo, *El Paso, *Aladdinn,
AAF Kaset, Strike, MS Santana, Almaden, Exceladdinn, Echo Magnifficoo, Kharben, Legacy of Gold, and First Cyte. Dam line Gazella II winning at the US Nationals were with stallions Bay Abi and AAF Kaset!

Overall, from what I can gather you have a lovely colt who should be a superb sire!

NOBLE GHAZI is a pure Polish colt but he has a lot of Russian breeding. I am sure you know that El Ghazi is one of the contemporary stallions producing
Saddle seat action.

It is not surprising as El Ghazi comes from very athletic stock. Aloes is by the Kuhailan stallion Celebes.
Ofir, the by the desert bred import Kuhailan Hafi, had three famous sons. Witez II, Wielki Szlem and Witraz. Witez II was stolen by the Germans in WW
II and then taken to the US by Patton. The Poles never got him back. The Poles greatly preferred Wielki Szlem over Witraz and had sold, gelded or given away his sons. When *Bask (Witraz X Balalijka) made such a big splash in the US the Poles didn't have a decent Witraz son. They had sent Celebes to a
Polish circus after he returned from racing. They got him back from the circus at age 19 and begin to use him in breeding. He was a big success in Poland.
His foals are very Kuhailan, very strong and athletic. Aloes is out of Algoa (Czort X Algonkina by Pietuszok). Czort is one of the most highly regarded of
Wielki Szlem sons and was also a great producer of athletes. Furthermore Algonkina and Pietuszok are known for strength and athleticism.
El Ghazi's dam is by the non-Kuhailan sire Bandos (Negatiw X Bandola by Witraz) but out of the great Kuhailan broodmare Ellora. Ellora produced three
great stallions, EL AZRAK, EL PASO and ELLORUS, all heavily used in Polish breeding. All of these stallions were known for strength and athleticism. Her
last foal was Elektra.

NOBLE GHAZI dam HER NOBILITY (Elimar X Har Nahra by Bask) is also strongly Kuhailan bred. You will recognize the same cast of characters in ELIMAR (Celebes X Eliza by Pietuszok). Eliza was also out of Ellora and therefore a half sister to El Azrak, El Paso, Ellorus and Elektra. *Bask needs no introduction
but it is worthwhile exploring the dam line.
NOBLE Ghazi's dam line was imported to the US by Lasma when they purchased *PORTULAKA (Faher X Porfira by Priboj). She was bred to Bask seven
times. Her most famous Bask offspring was the well-known PORT BASK although POSEJDON was also well known. HAR NAHRA was her last Bask foal.
She was then purchased by the Mekeel who bred her to Elimar. They then bred Har Nahra to Elimar to produce Her Nobility.

*Portulaka's dam Porfira was born in Russia but exported to Poland. The Poles put a lot of pressure on the Russian's to return mare lines that the Russians had stolen in WWII. The mare stolen was Gazella II carrying the filly Taraszcza the granddam of Porfira. These mares are from the Gazella DB imported from the desert in 1840 to Jarczowce.
I would expect your colt to be very Kuhailan in phenotype as he certainly is in pedigree. He should be strong and athletic with great dryness as he ages. He should cross extremely well with Seklawi Polish mares. Bred to Kuhailan mares he may have a tendency to produce stocky and/or somewhat course headed horses. This is a problem with breeding too strongly Kuhailan but the best of these crosses are wonderful.

Best wishes,

Dick Reed, Toskhara Arabians
